Our horses

We have the following horses available for the expedition. We choose horses on the spot, however, if you have a personal preference (gaited horse, big horse…) feel free to write in advance, we will be happy to arrange your horse according to your wishes 🙂

Bielka – Bielka is the mascot of the Nurota expedition. He is a gaited horse, thirteen years old and he was the first horse that carried tourists in the area (around the monument). He has been riding with us on expeditions since 2022, and over the years his health and nutritional status has improved by one hundred percent. Bielka is a reliable horse that can be ridden even by a beginner. If you have a sore back, Bielka (as a gaited horse) is the horse for you. He is a mountain professional who could walk the route from A to B himself by memory. Since he is currently very well fed, and because of his age, he is the leader of the entire herd – therefore he can scream on strange horses for fun, or even search for a fight with them.

Fisheye – Fisheye is another very distinctive personality of the Nurota expedition. Fisheye is a young horse who grew up wild in the mountains and who we started under saddle on the April 2024 expedition. Since then he has made tremendous progress and has become a reliable riding horse who is receptive to anything new you teach him. He doesn’t make anything up, he doesn’t spook, he’s 100% under saddle. However, he is a young horse, suitable only for an experienced lightweight rider. He is also, of course, given his colouring, the Don Juan of the group and one of the most photogenic horses on the expedition.

Sorrel – Sorrel is Bielka’s best friend… wait. It should be like this, they’re from the same herd. But they’re still grinning at each other. Ryzak is a young, tall horse, suitable for an experienced, lighter rider. He’s a teenager who can occasionally misbehave, has a comfortable, spacious gaits and is very confident in the terrain. We started Sorrel under saddle during an expedition in 2022. Since then he has grown up, has gotten stronger, and muscled up. And if you could see how he would love you, he will greet you with a neigh whenever he sees you and let you scratch his neck endlessly… He’s a lovely young horsey for someone who wants to build a relationship with him.

Kuchli – Kuchli is a horse with a strong body constitution, suitable for men and anyone who wants a strong horse. He is a trouble-free horse, a professional who is responsive and happy to fulfill your every wish. He is rideable on a fully loose rein.

Black Lightning – Black Lightning is a horse with a powerful body constitution and beautiful muscling. He is one of the most beautiful horses of the expedition. He is a reliable horse. He is happy to fulfill all your wishes, he is not particularly fast, rather he saves his energy, which makes him one of the most popular horses of the expedition. Besides the list of advantages, I must point out that Black Lightning sometimes kicks:)

Yaramas – Yara is the second gaited horse in the group. He is a very nice horse with comfortable gaits, who likes to go to the front of the herd and often competes with Bielka in snail races to see who has the faster slow gait. Yara is suitable for the person who needs an gaited horse. Yara likes to use the fast gait and gallops only in case of the greatest emergency. Yara is recommended for the rider who can mount well and quickly from the ground – he doesn’t like it because of his previous owner, and can pull off a lot of funny (but relatively innocent) tricks to discourage you.

Buckskin – Buckskin is a good horse for a beginner or someone who just wants to enjoy the beauty of nature, enjoy the surroundings and not use the reins. Buckskin is a 100% horse, he is a mountain professional who could ride the route from A to B himself by memory.

Aka – The bay Aka, like his younger brother, is a reliable horse who listens to your wishes and is generally a pleasant, non-conflict riding partner. He is also suitable for less experienced riders.

Uka – The bay on the right Uka is a young horse, the right brother of the bay Aka. He is a reliable horse who does what he is told. Uka is suitable for lighter riders, he is young and has slightly incorrect hindquarters mechanics.

Oyoq – Oiak comes from the village Asraf, where we treated his mud fever in 2023 and in spring 2024. Since he won’t let his back legs to be touched, he has also earned the nickname “ninja” from the locals. The whole village always gathered for the “lift his leg and jump away quickly” performance. With the help of the village we invented several systems to treat his legs safely. Oiak is currently in good health and has proven himself as a great riding horse, especially with his reliability and calmness. He won’t run unnecessarily anywhere unless he is given an order. You don’t have to clean his hooves (we’ll take care of that) :))))

Dangasa – Danik is a calm, reliable horse that rolls slowly and contentedly somewhere in the back of the herd. He is shorter in height, but is more of a sturdy square frame. He is suitable for those who come to enjoy the expedition at maximum ease, are in no hurry and would like a stronger horse.

🏇 So much for introducing the horses and now let’s go on an expedition! 🏇
